First thing you have to get used to, is that our fave is slow moving. Will never burn off unnecessary fuel like using ideas when you can milk 1 for 5 years. It doesn't matter to her that she is Mach 2+ capable, when Mach 0.8 is enough to stay competitive and save fuel for the next battle after this one.

at this point a regina surprise release would probably be good. her, gaga and bruno can fight it out Q4 and hopefully have cleared off by the time Katy is ready. Also if it is a surprise album release and/or a GH then it shouldn't hopefully have too much of an impact on Katy's lead

2016 is taste wise a trash year, bad songs went #1. It must be an awful thought to write bad songs to chart, because it's quite random which bad songs chart and which bad songs flop.
In 2012 and 2014 Regina looked at Katy providing guidance in the unfamiliar territory of pop music. It can be a strategic choice to delay till Regina has to release and has nothing else than a spinning bottle providing guidance to her. Having to write bad songs to chart might affect Regina's writing, acclaim and Metacritic scores.
