Improved relations with Russia will not end well at all. You say the U.S. needs to have less influence but you seem happy that such a move would mean greater Russian influence in Eastern Europe. They'll be taking more than Crimea if Trump gives them the chance.
It's logical they want what's theirs. Russia is incorporating territories with Russian citizens within its boundaries. It's understandable if you ask me. Poland is not endangered, if anything improving relations with Russia are really needed right now.

I agree they need to let it die but there does need to be a showing where they try to save it so in the future they can tell people they tried to stop it.

I can't stand a lot of the Republicans in politics at the moment. But, they're far better politicians in terms of getting their message across. Most people apparently were completely under the impression the economy has fallen apart under Obama because he never really spoke about how much of an improvement he made on the economy. Democrats are too nice and modest for their own good, which leaves them susceptible to the Republicans simply going on offense and demonizing everything about them and people buy into it. Democrats need to play more aggressively. Explain why a progressive movement going forward is the better step forward to improve the country.

There is no rebuilding of a Soviet bloc nor there has been one in the last 27 years. Communism is history. The Soviet bloc has absolutely nothing to do with what Putin is doing. It is about uniting all the lands inhabited by Russians that got separated from it after the fall of the USSR. While the situation wasn't bad as long as Ukraine has pro-Russian governments, it all started to shamble when the US-backed Maidan overthrew the legal government and nationalists came to power. Ukraine in its current shape is a joke, half of it doesn't even speak Ukrainian.
