Teenage Dream got boring over a year ago, I'm still in love with the masterpiece that is One of The Boys though.
I need her next album to be sonically OOTB but with the production budget of TD. Lyrically, it needs to be closer to One of The Boys, but f course more mature and appropriate for a 28 year old - TD is awful in that department.
No, I need something new. No OOTB, no TD. I don't want her to be a one trick pony
iasm it'd be nice to have like 2-3 songs with the teenage dream or ootb sound but i want her to bring something new to the table. i don't want her to be like pink who plays the same card over and over. But knowing katy im sure she'll do something different
Well obviously I don't want her to release a direct copy of OOTB, but I also don't want her to change her genre with every album. Her voice suits pop-rock a lot more than pop.
I'd rather she became P!nk and mastered a particular genre than her start to release Reggae and Soul albums to avoid repeating herself!
Did you guys know that Perry's vocals on WUIV weren't touched up at all, I don't have the link to where Greg said this, I think the forum I go on automatically deletes comments after a while. Anywho, Greg said this in another comment

Details..... it was several years ago that we recorded it. I've been working on and off with Katy for four years, when she was signed to Columbia, when dropped from Columbia, when out of money and freaked out, then when signed to Virgin and here we are. The song itself is a pop tour de force which was fun to sink my teeth into the production of. It was just Katy and I trying things. The way my studio is set up, it's quick and easy to jump on drums, guitar, bass, synths... we can audition ideas pretty painlessly. Katy had some great ideas guitar wise, like the counter melody in the pre-chorus, and the sliding pick over the strings rockness in the bridge/middle 8. I shouldn't admit this, but I remember having a funny feeling while drumming on it that eventually a lot of people would hear the drum track. I also had that feeling when drumming on Mika's "Grace Kelly" - both times it was in the middle of the take itself. Go ahead and make fun, but it happened!
Katy is one of the best singers I've ever worked with. She has enormous tone, personality, and dynamic range.
The gear was the usual list of suspects in my studio.... Avedis mic pre's on the drums, Neve 1073 on the vocals into an 1176, and probably a 57 and a Royer 121 on the guitar cab.
just proves Katy has lots of musical input in her music xo.
