I don't see how that's any different from an R&B song charting on Pop Songs (crossing over.) The song isn't as Pop as many people are saying because it still has some heavy R&B elements. "S&M," "We Found Love," and "Where Have You Been" all charted on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart without going top 50 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, something "Mirrors" will do next week. Justin's music as a whole is a lot more urban than Rihanna's too so skin color obviously plays a part.
