Her single leaked over a week before it was supposed to come out. Any normal artist (who's big) would've tried to rush release. Why give people a week to illegally download your single before it goes on sale? Also, people were hearing the leaks with terrible quality, so she wanted us to hear the real, high quality version as soon as possible.

She just thought she was bigger than Katy at this momento IMO, Katy announced the release date after she did it and she thought Katy was going to get all the attention and she just couldnt wait to see the slayage that Applause was supossed to show on iTunes. Bad move Gaga! I hope she learns from it and she starts to realise that she isnt that big anymore.

We all know damn well she THOUGHT she could outsell Katy... clearly she underestimated her and now its all backfiring. I have no sympathy towards her.

I mean, can you blame her? What Roar sold this week, BTW sold nearly that much in three days. I don't think it had anything to do with trying to outshine Katy because she tweeted about Roar herself. Roar is easier to like than Applause though, so I understand why it's seeing more immediate results.

She definitely pushed this to compete. The whole rallying up her fans to "join" Katy fans further proved she had something up her sleeve. A week is hardly rushed though, Monsters act like nobody knew about the song. Or are afraid to admit nobody cared in the first place.

Another thing, I don't think Applause is a bad song. To me it's something that would have smashed harder in 2010-2011, but music trends are leading more towards a stripped down, raw sound. It almost sounds out of place on the radio.
