I mean that's all subjective but Whitney and Mariah are completely different artists anyway. There's not really a basis for comparison.
But in any case...it just wasn't Mariah and Whitney who released incredibly frequently anyway. Yearly...even bi-yearly releases were very common for many artists and bands back in the day.
I think they were just using Whitney and Mariah as more recent/relatable examples.
I mean a navy veteran deserve it more than a newbie anyway. 
Thankfully it's the music that counts for me, not some stupid picture.
