Carrie more than likely has little say in what format her songs are sent to. I doubt the label will sit back and let a song with crossover potential go to waste. It could mean a million extra sales.
Most of the time labels hire outside marketing to do radio promo and i cant think of one that ive worked with that would not set up crossover add dates if the song even had slight potential. This is especialy true in country pop and christian formats since they are usually all bleeding into each other.
The last thing we need is a feud between Carrie and her label though.
Honestly its respectable to not want to remix your songs or go to other stations to attain more success.. but this can be a career defying moment.. and this should be seen as an opportunity to expand her audience.. and not attain more success.
I think when Carrie said that she was referring to doing different mixes and vocal arrangements for pop radio... which i can agree with... but not sending it to pop for the sake of holding on to your "countryness" is alienting a lot of potential fans.
Yeah they definitely created a pop mix that she wasn't happy about.
I'm just waiting for Carrie to tweet.. "Hey y'all I know your all excited for the video but... WE SCRAPPED THE WHOLE CONCEPT AND ITS NOT COMING OUT NOW TILL NEXT YEAR. xoxoxox"
