Apparently soundtrack songs are only eligible for Oscar nominations if they play prior to the end credits (meaning they're ineligible if they're played during the credits).
Let's hope Safe & Sound is during the movie itself, otherwise it can't even be considered for a nom.

I am afraid it could be on the companion album. Songs inspired by the movie. Or so i have heard.
Alternatively, I've been waiting for a song about her friendship with Selena; she's never really written extensively about friendship, and a song about Selena would not only cover the topic, but it would also make all her young girl fans happy because chances are they love Selena too.
