Second Batch
theycallmemaraj - Okay, so I'm guessing that you are pretty new to Photoshop and just played around with a bunch of different effects? It's always nice to experiment and get used to the software. You definitely have to work on focusing your design to something more cohesive, as this just ends up being a mix of colors, textures, and patterns that really don't make sense. I do love the enthusiasm which is suggested by the piece... if you have that creativity, I'm sure you will be able to hone it and improve! 3/10
Royal Culture - I really love the choice in font for "season five." The overall concept is strong, but I find the result to be somewhat underwhelming, especially because I've seen your work in the past and know how amazing it is! The GIF idea is awesome, and I think you chose very exciting images to include in the masking. Moving forward, definitely be cognizant about the edges of a GIF, as they can unfortunately get choppy, so if you can attempt to soften those edges when saving the image, that would be good. My other major comment is that this color palette clashes for me. I'm not sure if it's the yellow or the shade in blue, but I just feel like it leaves a harsh taste. But the layout was really good! 7/10
Cantaloupe. - OKAY, if you told me you were going to use this color combo before I saw the final result, I would have been very very skeptical. However, it came out really really well. It's very charismatic and attractive. I really love the font selection for season 5 and your name... The font for "The Photoshop Game" is a bit bland however. A bold version of the other typeface might have worked really nicely here. Awesome use of lines and circles to accent the banner as well! 9/10
Desire - Another really cute entry that shows strong technique in designing a GIF. You captured a specific theme/mood and did it pretty well. I wish there was a little more diversity/contrast within the design, such as another color or shape somewhere, but overall this is a solid start. 8/10
Dancehall - ARTPOP 2.0 tbh. I honestly like this in a strange way?? I don't think it would be very effective as a game banner... but as an art piece, it is very intriguing, shows good technique, and strong sense of color. I also like the text and its placement, as it forces you to think outside of the box. 8/10
Satan - This is one of my favorites this round. You put a lot of really awesome detail within this banner. The faded border, the drop shadows, the dots and lines... You went so in-depth and thought about this piece from many, many different angles. The color palette is cute, although it can be a bit hard to read the white text on the sky blue side. However, that is a minor complaint and I am very impressed by everything else, especially the composition. There are new elements to discover every time you look at the banner, and that attention to detail is going to serve you very well in this competition. 9.5/10
Lawliet - Another adventurous concept! I like the idea overall, and your technique is pretty good here. I would say that the positioning of the fonts is questionable, as I think you could have placed them more front and center. You did a great job on the laser and 3D effects. 8.5/10
Kingie - Cute! I love the postcard theme and the bouncing beach ball. You did a great job with the clipping mask inside of the game title, and the 3D effect there looks good. My major complaint would be the choice in fonts and placement of text. The fonts lack a certain impact that I would expect from a memorable banner, and the placement feels a bit last minute. 8/10
skwonderfactory - Very cool use of Photoshop tool symbols in the banner. I love how it captures the aspect of the game in that regard. The colors here are a bit boring; however, if you are going for a grayscale, futuristic theme, as I think you might have been, it makes more sense. I like the fonts that you chose, except for "ATRL" and "Season 5"... those both could have been moved elsewhere, and a more sleek/modern typeface would have been better. You could have also offset that text by making it white and then placing it on top of a thin red rectangle? 8/10
