Beyonce: I wish I was as big as Dreamgirls co-star Jennifer Hudson
Beyonce Knowles set out to clear up rumors of jealousy over the attention her "Dreamgirls" co-star Jennifer Hudson has been receiving. Her plan may have backfired.
During a recent interview, Beyoncé said she "knew that the character that I played wasn't the star ... I'm already a star. I already have nine Grammys. Everyone knows I can sing."
Beyoncé definitely belts out some beautiful melodies, but when she said, "I wish I could have gained 20 pounds and played Effie," we hear the flip side of her tune. Although most of Beyoncé's comments seemed a little backhanded, she did go on to give props to Hudson by saying, "She did incredible."
This interview, meant to defuse the rumored feud, could rekindle the diva dis.
I've heard on the radio, Doug Banks, that most of the people who have seen the movie have said that Jennifer Hudson is the one to look out for and not Beyonce.

Everyone knows Jennifer Hudson is the better singer, I'm sure Beyonce herself does too.

She didn't say that, I doubt Beyonce would. It'd ruin her 'humble' image

We all know that Jennifer Hudson could out-sing Beyonce any day, and I really think this movie would probably be a whole lot worse had Beyonce gotten the lead. I do not see Beyonce being able to play someone very likable, I wouldn't feel sorry for her. I like her but I think she doesn't need to act too hard to play a bitch.

Shakira just took home 5 Latin Grammies, a regular Grammy, and had the biggest song of the year worldwide, and one of the most successful tours of the year. Shakira doesn't "need" anything from Beyonce. Beyonce WANTS Shakira; it's not the other way around. Think about it buddy.

No she wouldn't. The song wouldn't be worldly popular. Believe me, I like Shakira. But nothing she does that isn't Hips Don't Lie does well! You're only under assumption about "if she promotes then she has a hit!" but you wouldn't know. And guess what? What kind of f.ucking dumbass is she that she has the choice to promote but doesn't? In that case, Shakira is the queen of flops.

'Dreamgirls' Stars Upstaged By 'Idol' Hudson
By Mark Egan
Reuters
NEW YORK (Dec. 5) - The movie adaptation of the famed Broadway musical "Dreamgirls" stars Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx , chart-topping singer Beyonce Knowles and long-time favorite Eddie Murphy .
But in true show business tradition, an overweight unknown more used to failure than success is stealing the show.
"It's the biggest honor I could possibly get. I'm so grateful," Jennifer Hudson says of the buzz that she may win an Oscar for her Cinderella turn in the role of Effie White.
"I'm so grateful. All I wanted was the part, and to hear this now? It's very exciting," the actress and singer told Reuters.
If Hudson is surprised by the talk of an Oscar, it's because her resume was rather thin: She is a college drop-out with six months' experience singing on a cruise ship who later reached a mere seventh place on the TV audition show American Idol.
Now her silver screen debut has already won her fans even before the movie opens in New York and Los Angeles on December 15 and nationwide on December 25. At media screenings, the press have greeted Hudson's performance with whooping applause.
Her biggest ovation comes during her rendition of "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" -- the emotional show stopper in the original 1981 Broadway show, which won six Tony Awards.
The New York Observer described her performance of that song as "five mellifluous, molto vibrato minutes that have suddenly catapulted Ms. Hudson ... into the position of front-runner for the best supporting actress Oscar."
Newsweek said that when moviegoers hear Hudson sing the song, she "is going to raise goose bumps across the land."
The movie tells the story of a group of black female singers and is loosely based on the story of Diana Ross and The Supremes and the Motown record company. Hudson's part is that of the hefty, difficult singer in the trio.
CHURCH CHOIR
Hudson credits her voice to her Baptist upbringing in Chicago, where she belted out songs in church from age 7.
"I used to sing in the church choir," she said. "People would say it was unusual for such a small girl to have such a big voice. They would say, 'She sounds like she's grown."'
Casting director Jay Binder, known for his work on major Broadway productions, said he is proud of choosing Hudson.
"It's not like we found her working at the telephone company, but it's the best piece of casting this office has ever done," he said in an interview.
The part was no slam dunk for Hudson. After her first audition, Binder told her he liked her but said while she could make it on Broadway, she would have to lose some weight and work on her image if she were to make it in Hollywood.
"She was not as glamorous as we needed her to be. She needed to develop her figure in a more pleasing way," Binder said. "We then went on, over the next six months, to see every African-American woman of a certain age on both coasts."
After a nationwide search, countless auditions and open-casting calls failed to turn up the perfect Effie White, Binder remembered Hudson and called her back.
"When she came back six months later she was absolutely gorgeous. She was not a girl but a woman," he said. "Without a question, it was her part. Whatever she had done, she now had sex appeal and was more comfortable in herself."
Now as Hudson promotes "Dreamgirls" and is preparing to record an album for legendary recording executive Clive Davis, who made stars of the likes of Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys , she's finding all the attention a little hard to believe.
"I have to pinch myself," she said. "Am I really doing interviews? Is this really happening? Even on the movie set, I was stopping and asking myself, 'Am I dreaming?"'
I bet you Yonka and Papa Yonka are pissed off at all the attention Jennifer Hudson is getting. It will be CLASSIC if Jennifer is nominated and Yonka is snuffed.

Nice. She's the "f.ucking dumbass" that started her career at age 8 writing songs on her own, has been putting out albums since age 13 with her own music and lyrics, has had a hugely successful career for over 15 years, just won 5 Latin Grammies and already has sold a substantial amount throughout her career, thus not feeling the pressure of whoring herself out 24/7 in tabloids and promotion to get sales and attention.
She's that kind of "f.ucking dumbass". I mean, like gross, what a "f.ucking dumbass" Shakira is. She should totally be like hanging out with Lindsay Lohan and making rounds through the hot spots and promoting herself. That's totally smart. Artistry? What's that? Lamers........ it's so much better to get #1 hits and make enormous sales. Like, why release a great song if it can't be a #1 hit and make all the teeny bopper / music trend *****s fall in love with it and rack up a ka-jillion sales and retire on TRL? How dare Shakira release legitimate artistic endeavors!? Like, lamers. All she should care about is Billboard positions and finding what ever way to make sure she's like #1 on the charts. What a "f.ucking dumbass"......
And actually, yes, "Las De La Intuicion" would be a global hit. The song is a great pop piece and it's actually catchy as well (that's an example of when great art also has great appeal and potential). I could see it doing well in Europe with a bit of promo and a good video.
And FYI, when I said that Shakira released commercial singles and artistic singles (i.e. "Dia De Enero", "Illegal"), it meant that the latter weren't intended to be enormous radio hits (re-read the 2nd paragraph of this post for more clarification). If you're going to be saying that I make assumptions that all she needs is promotion to get a hit, then you're mistaken. Read carefully next time.
You know, there comes a time when an artist can afford to be a true artist and worry less about sales and chart performance and about gaining the approval of music trend *****s (a.k.a. "musical bandwagon jumpers"). I know this may be an extremely difficult concept for you to grasp, but it is possible. Just try to ponder this idea for a bit. Releasing a great song, even though it doesn't have much single or radio potential. OMG! And risk flopping? No way! Not getting the approval of teeny boppers and the average radio listener who prefers songs about "Laffy Taffy"? Like, how insane!
If you have trouble picking up the sarcasm, once again, read carefully. It's silly how consumed some people have gotten with chart position and sales. When a super talented artist like Shakira, after having recently won 5 Latin Grammies and a regular Grammy, is being blasted as the "Queen of Flops" and a "f.ucking dumbass" for not whoring herself out 24/7 with promotion, it's obvious how superficial the average listener is and can be. It's a shame to even claim that you of all people "like Shakira". You just like her when the chart positions say her music is good, which is pretty pathetic. It's beyond your mind to like a song for simply being a great song.
I would much rather have Shakira release a geniunely great song like "Dreams For Plans" (a beautiful song ) and in the process risk possibly flopping than to forever specifically cater towards pleasing the average radio listener by releasing catchy shlock so she can meet the approval of Billboard nerds who are forced fed to like something by its chart position and popularity, who judge an artist and his or her music by how high it is on the charts. Thankfully it seems like Shakira is starting to prefer doing that herself.
Shakira has nothing to be ashamed of, nor does she "need" anything from anyone. She's a great Pop artist and musician, enormously gifted, with the ability to write extremely poignant and emotional songs, who can take multiple genres and styles and fuse them together to create a unique and artistic piece. Shakira is a wonderful Pop artist and musician, commercial flops or not.

LMFAO @ Shakira fans.
They will try ANYTHING to prove that she's the best artists of all time just because she had like two major hits worldwide after releasing like zillion of albums since 1900 . For the fact that she's still like a c-list artist and an F-list celebrity .
Beyonce had only TWO solo albums and already established her name in the industry. Not to mention her Destiny's Child days.
baby boy , crazy in love, naughty girl , me myself & I, deja vu , check on it, ring the alarm , irreplaceable... All her singles so far are recognizable and have been heard all over the world and anyone can simply name them.
While shakira , hmmm.. whenever wherever , la tortura ,hips don't lie??!!
