Yeah, that happens a lot in blogs, I'm not sure why, it kind of defeats the purpose.
The off-topic rule doesn't really apply to blogs though. If I were you I'd just delete the comments. Beside each post you'll see a little white check box, click on all the ones you want to delete and then go to Delete Comments in the dropdown box at the bottom and hit Go. That will at least clean the slate by getting your picture off the page and removing all the off-topic posts.
