i have to say...the album did not turn out to be this big political album at all
we cant say she changed anything b/c of the backlash...b/c we know she already filmed this stuff b4 we even got Formation
I don't mind it not being political tbh. She can do an album on a social issues at anytime. Racism and inequality aren't going anywhere anytime soon. An album about Jay and marital troubles is better for this era as it is still very relevant to her life and it plays well with the progression of 4 and Beyonce. The fact she spilled the tea means people can't call her fake for every love song she chooses to record. We know the tea and we know he cheated, and she forgave him. All the lyrics from 4, Beyonce and Lemonade tell a progressive story and that I think is very important for displaying her artistry as a whole and it reveals the honesty behind all the albums she recorded.
Tbh, Lowkey, The only way I want her next album to involve Jay is if she is single by the end of it though.
It's not a hugely political album but in the context of what a popstar's album usually is comprised of, it is very political.
Lyrics like "negro nose", "good hair", the whole "Freedom" song, etc. show a more conscious stance on race, and the video does TONS in the ways of presenting a political view of race in America.

"Daddy Lessons," which debuted at No. 41 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, starts off with an extended horn intro, but then Beyonce namechecks her home state of Texas. Led by an acoustic guitar with hand claps marking the rhythm, she sings about lessons she learned from her father and former manager. With its lyrical references to the Second Amendment, the Bible and guns, "Daddy Lessons" could easily pass as the latest feisty hit from Miranda Lambert.

It's nearly been a month and I can easily say Sandcastles, Forward and Don't Hurt Yourself are my 3 least favs.

Pray You Catch Me still has its foot on my NECK. I've recently started stanning hard for the past week or so, like it really might be the best song on the album, it's so beautiful

I can't at the hate for Pray You Catch Me and Daddy Lessons. The album opener is intriguing, suspenseful, dramatic and heartbreaking. I just can't get over how she discovers the cheating and prays he knows she knows, yet she feels like he's the only one that can help her. It's so powerful.
It's funny cuz i actually despise Country music, but Beyonce just slays on everything
