BP their PAKs were everything, simply because they debuted with such instant, immense success and stomped on peoples faves a biT, and that made it fun. But mostly PAK's are just a nice little badge to have.
In that sense any achievement is just for the fandom to brag....
Getting a PAK was really hard ( no wonder it was always the same groups that did it sustar,iu, miss A etc) now its easier (thus more group doing it) but still not everyone does it...
I.O.I needs to revise the ending of Very Very Very performances. It's awkward the way they just stand there and shimmy after the song faded out and stopped

A PAK is a symbol of power, it means the entire Korea is perched for your song and it'll provide a better prospects for future releases digitally cause It means you've secured the GP. Look at who achieves them, Mamamoo, Gfriend, BlackPink, TWICE, IOI, all legendary groups. It's definitely not something to scoff at.

In the past it was sistar , miss a, iu etc so in the very least its an indicator of a group with strong digitals

When I first heard the fade out outro I instantly wondered how they're gonna manage in in the performances and... yeah
yeah, IOI should just stand and pose at the end or something bc... yeah

still failing to see to true importance of PAK besides it being something nice for fans to use by saying the song was #1 on all charts at once. EXO, for example, has never had one yet every title track (since Growl) up until Monster sold over 1M copies and that song will most likely reach the summit in a few months too. BTS hasn't had one yet either and they're the biggest thing right now.
no matter how you spin it, if a song gets a PAK and sells 1.2M copies while a song that didn't, sold 2M copies, the PAK song is not bigger. It was more "popular" at its peak, but it's not bigger.
EDIT: that's no shade to IOI. I've always felt this way. It was a big deal to me for BP only bc, like someone said, to see them do that on the first try was nice + the debut itself was hype and eventful

I was just gonna ask this.
Poor flops at #26 on Billboard. The army is gonna be shocked when they find out PAKless Boys is officially over and actually never started to begin.

with only 1 true hit song... that didn't even get a PAK which "bodes well for a group's future" and longevity... yet WINGS is the 2nd-best selling album this year in Koria already and the new single is still T5 on melon. flops
The thing about digital sales in Korea is that girl groups perform better than boy groups on average (unless you're Big Bang and to a lesser extent, Exo). Hardly any boy groups have gotten a PAK (Big Bang is the only one, correct me if I'm wrong) whereas I can list like 10 girl groups who have gotten one.
BTS will probably never get a PAK but they're still an insanely huge group. That's just how it works. Boy groups can be huge but they still don't do amazing digitally. Physical sales are more important to them.
Hence, I would say PAKs are more relevant to girl groups.
