It's not creepy. It's natural per established psychology
I guess I should have said strange. I know so many people with abusive fathers that ended falling in love with the same type of abusive men. It's just interesting how that is integrated into you socially and psychologically
Are you aware you're my lifeline, are you tryna kill me
If I wasn't me, would you still feel me?
Like on my worst day? Or am I not thirsty, enough?
I don't care about the lights or the beams
Spend my life in the dark for the sake of you and me
Only way to go is up, skin thick, too tough
I am kind of furious that Bey nabbed a GOD Blake collab and turned it into a 1 minute interlude. WTF was she thinking
I am so glad I stopped stanning for that idiot. Not because he worked for beyonce but because of what it implies. His music made me think he enjoys sophisticated music, which is why I stanned (see Lana being a Rihanna stan). However, finding ouut that he agreed to be on Beyonce's album not only means he sold out, but he also listens to stuff like Freakum Dress
Freedom! Freedom! I can't move
Freedom, cut me loose!
Singin', freedom! Freedom! Where are you?
Cause I need freedom too!
I break chains all by myself
Won't let my freedom rot in hell
Hey! I'ma keep running
Cause a winner don't quit on themselves

He's always been an out and proud Bey stan! He remixed DIL when it came out, iirc.

Well the album was about the experiences of her grandmother, her mother, and her right? And it was also about the ****ed up relationships that they had to endure for the love they felt. But the "cycle" always ended with sadness. So Beyonce is determined to make the most of the ****ed up situations that Jay and life has put her through and to not let them get to her. Make something beautiful from something that hurts. Stopping the "cycle" that has plagued the women in her family. Making lemonade out of the lemons life has thrown at her.
At least that's the ******** explanation I've come up with. Kinda threw Jay under the bus though.
this is a very good interpretation
I enjoy how the album marinates the listener in all of the anger and pain she feels - like half of the album consists of her sharply criticizing her male family figures. Jay Z and Matthew did ****ed up **** and are taken to task for it. It really legitimizes those emotions, instead of portraying them as something one should suppress or blindly work through for the sake of forgiveness and family unity (as we see in media all the time).
