I love all those Rihanna songs! Fire Bomb, Russian Roulette, Man Down, Selfish Girl...

What I love from Rihanna is island flavoured beats, club bangers, and extremely soulful ballads. Every single Rated R ballad is above the other album's ballads, imo. Question Existing is the only other Rih ballad on par with the Rated R ballads.

It was released to urban radio around the same time as S&M was released as a single. Def Jam quickly took Raining Men off radio, though. So.. technically it was an urban promo single, but it never was official.

It might be because I hang out in this thread a lot, but I have seen lots of posts saying how big Rihanna is in Europe, and I barely see any about GaGa.

The fact that 'Man Down' is still smashing in parts of Europe, despite only being released to urban radio stations in the US, I think that is a pretty good indication of how big Rihanna actually is.

When I say nobody knows her I mean she isn`t a huge star or anything. She has moderate success but she`s not huge. And selling 120k in Japan is just Gold.

She also had a press conference there during the Rated R era and there were many many many Koreans there to get their Rated R cds/t-shirts signed. In Japan the album has sold over 113,000 copies, which is the equivalent of her selling Gold here with absolutely zero promotion of her singles or album. I can't speak for Taiwan, but she did do a private concert in China last year, so to say no one knows her in Asia is incorrect.
