I usually wasn't ashamed of my music. I had a pretty wide range of taste in like 4th or 3rd grade. I'd listen to Linkin Park, Blink-182, Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, even some 30 Seconds to Mars & Eminem.

I really liked whatever I heard on the radio.

My friends used to joke about the fact that I listened to Korean music a few years ago, but I now catch them bopping to some songs I showed them and asking me for some suggestions

I think what helps them admit that they like a song by a woman is if a guy is also on it. With Work and Closer, it's seen as ok because Drake and The Chainsmokers are males. It also helps if the woman has indie cred. Straight guys can freely be fans of Florence because she's seen as more respectable being in a band.
