Exactly, deep down everyone likes female singers, but some boys don't want to accept it because society told them it's "embarrassing".
That explains why the moment Halsey got a male singer to duet with her she skyrocketed to the top of the charts. Everyone already loved her in secret, and thanks to the male singer it was no longer embarrassing to accept it!
