Im really not sure how this Era can be revived... And its sad because this is so fresh.. So feel good.. And could sell millions.
Everything They/She did wrong:
Released Triumphant (without immediately announcing it as a buzz single)
Released Almost Home - Without making it completely KNOWN it was a soundtrack single and unconnected to the album.
Was a judge on American Idol - and now she must repair her TV persona and public image with something like a reality show where she comes across extremely well, and pipes down abit. One reason why Emancipation exploded, was Mariah was on FIRE. Mentally, vocally, artistically. She came across extremely sexy, witty, grown - she was still Mariah as we know but just more turned down. Mariah must return to this demeanour..
Released Beautiful but despite being an absolute classic and deserving of the first single status - they decided to put that stupid hashtag in the title
and gave it mediocre promotion - she should of been EVERYWHERE, interviews, performances NOT perched on American Idol, only damaging her image.
Album delay Album was delayed for the first time
Hiring Jermaine Dupri as manager self explanatory
Released Art of Letting Go releasing it on FB, announcing it as the second single - she should of just released it via Soundcloud as a gift and made a deal out of it, the whole unmixed/unmastered version of the track going live - the whole thing was just messy.
You're Mine rushed release Releasing the song a few weeks before valentines day and allowing it to build, would of greatly helped the song, backed with some promotion around valentines day and a few after - the song could of gone at least Top 20 Billboard. Big wasted opportunity. Still one of my favourite singles this era. The whole remix thing was just confusing aswell, releasing both at the SAME time, meant that the songs were competing with each other. It was all just a missed opportunity.
No Surprise Release There was SO much buzz around the album when the billboard article referenced the release of the album. It had so much mystery and intrigue. And then it all died when weeks went on and it didn't come. With all the extremely positive reviews, this could of exploded had it of been just released, with no prior info on the title, track-list, cover etc. I would haved predicted 200k first week..
Album delayed yet again Second delay
Album release With absolute ZERO promo, no single, no plan, no strategy, no outline. NOTHING. Just a few interviews, and a few performances.
Not releasing YDKWTD immediately This should of been set up to be released like a week before the album, with a video and everything. It all could of coincided with the Today show performances. It still hasnt been released and seems like its all undecided yet again. MESS
Not losing weight Im sorry to mention, and i love Mariah's curves, but it borders on overweight and looks messy and lazy just like the whole era.
This is just some or the things i remembered theres probably more.. I hope this era can be salvaged, as its just over already. I mean JD WHAT are you getting paid to do? Its one big ****ing mess, and as a lamb i feel embarrassed as Mariah's releases are ALWAYS impeccable. I mean where were the BET specials/ mini shows, Oprah, Ellen, etc etc.. All we got were messy radio interviews, and backstage stuff, and Letterman.. I don't know whats going on with Mariah, but whatever it is i hope and pray it can be saved. I need
