Alright so after many more listens, I've come to really appreciate this album. Still not my cup of tea (yet) but I've been listening to it on repeat all day. The last half of the album definitely shines but as a whole, it's all good material.
The only songs that aren't clicking for me yet are Born to Die (kinda, on the fence with this one), Blue Jeans, Million Dollar Man, Lolita, and Lucky Ones. Anybody want to try changing my mind about them? Why are they good?

Lucky Ones has one of my favorite melodies (chorus-wise) on the album, and it has the best, immediate opening line: "Let's get out of this town, baby, we're on fire." Completely grabs your attention.

The only issue I'm having is that some songs start to sound a bit similar. It's a cohesive album, which is good, but some tracks could be more distinctive.
"Diet Mtn Dew" is one my song right now. I just love everything about it.
"Let's take Jesus off the dashboard / Got enough on his mind" this song is just too sexy
Carmen, Million Dollar Man, Without You and Lucky Ones are all beautiful. I agree with whoever said the melody of Lucky Ones is one of the best on the album.

Blue jeans, white shirt, walked into the room you know you made my eyes burn. It was like James dean, for sure, your so fresh to death and sicker than cancer
1 day 20 hours until I can put my user score/review up on metacritic. Can't wait. This has gone from a 9/10 to a 10/10 over the last 24 hours. It's all I've been playing for the last 3 days. Crazy good. And I note that after the rash of awful reviews many of which I'm convinced were written before the album was available to anybody the tide is turning with regard to critic reviews. Much more positive now.
