Why are people discussing a conservative promotional strategy? They did that with G.U.Y. and look what happened. I mean if she had just performed at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and via satellite at the Billboard Music Awards, G.U.Y. would have at least reached a higher peak and shifted a few more copies of ARTPOP.
No, I don't think a conservative strategy will work for the next single. I'm not saying go all out and waste money, but just putting out the song and a video and doing one performance of it isn't the way to make a song a hit. There needs to be more.
At this point Gypsy won't have the hit capacity it could have had in early 2014 with promo, but releasing it and pushing cash into a Katy-level radio deal is a million times better than giving a video and one TV performance. Let the song build and even give a fan-centric video with spliced clips of her tours or something. You know she'd love that, it fits with the song and means it'll get streams online.
Still think DWUW having a second shot with the video would be seriously great though!

I seriously think releasing a fan centered video would be a great idea. She could include monsters in the video, just like she wanted with DWUW (this time no Radio ARTPOP members though, please). The video should be sweet and happy, just like Gypsy, maybe even let her have Taylor in it and Asia.
YES. And only like three or four were hits too. C'mon Gags, give us that thing that we love.
Interscope has been conservative from the beginning. I mean, only 3 singles during her peak era? The ARTPOP era has been all about throwing **** at the wall and seeing what sticks, lmao. There was no way to know G.U.Y. wouldn't hit, so I don't understand why they're going to just stop because it didn't when Gypsy has been an obvious single choice from the very beginning.

I meant mostly as in fans at the BTWB/MB shows (and maybe some early artRave shows) going nuts and dancing and screaming to her music and stuff. Nice fast edits of her interacting with them on stage and performing. Then maybe quick interspered scenes of backstage meetings and stuff. If it becomes purely a fan project, it'll be 90% Radio ARTPOPers, 8% Emma and 2% Gaga.
I just watched this interview for the first time in a while, it's so fascinating.
Cool to hear her talk about finding her persona, how people are so fascinated with celebrities, etc. Also kinda funny to hear her talk about Laurie Ann, Troy, Perez, etc.
I also loved the part where she was like "I wanna be the kind of artist that bothers people, and makes people go like 'ew, what's going on, what's she doing' "

Oh, ok. I thought about making a video with fans, but yeah, your idea is a better one and def something that would work better during the tour.
