100 BEST SONGS EVER · #41 - 44
♫"Funny you're the broken one but I'm the only one who needed saving."♫
44 · RIHANNA f/ MIKKY EKKO, "Stay" Debut Date: February 16, 2013 Weeks on Chart: 7 Weeks Peak Position: #03
After tons of upbeat and midtempo singles, Rihanna breaks the tradition by releasing a soulful piano ballad opposite Mikky Ekko. Being known for her pop songs, it is interesting to see Rihanna again doing ballads. "Unfaithful" was amazing and so is this one. It might not be recognized as one of Rihanna's bests but I'm sure this one is remarkable. This is Riri's final entry on the list. If only "Right Now" had a video.
FLASHBACK 2012: KATY PERRY, "Part Of Me" 2011: LADY ANTEBELLUM, "Just A Kiss" 2010: T.I. f/ KERI HILSON, "Got Your Back" 2009: KATY PERRY, "Waking Up In Vegas"
♫"You’re not the only one so let them criticize. You’re untouchable when you realize."♫
43 · LITTLE MIX, "Change Your Life" Debut Date: February 29, 2013 Weeks on Chart: 1 Week Peak Position: #20
Excluding the entry who failed to chart, this song's gotta be the poorest in terms of countdown performance. After soaring in the Top 75 last year with "Wings", the girls return with another anthem through "Change Your Life". I admit I didn't get hooked into it at first resulting to its countdown floppiness, but it grew on me so much during the second quarter of the year. I actually think this one's better than "Wings".
FLASHBACK 2012: OLLY MURS f/ FLO RIDA, "Troublemaker" 2011: BRUNO MARS, "It Will Rain" 2010: CHRISTINA AGUILERA, "You Lost Me" 2009: CIARA f/ MISSY ELLIOTT, "Work"
♫"I never meant to start a war. I just wanted you to let me in. And instead of using force, I guess I should've let you win."♫
42 · MILEY CYRUS, "Wrecking Ball" Debut Date: September 21, 2013 Weeks on Chart: 7 Weeks Peak Position: #02
From one anthem to a bigger and more heartbreaking one. Miley shocked us all when she released "We Can't Stop" but she didn't end there as she followed it with the controversial "Wrecking Ball". I must admit I prefer its predecessor more but I must commend her performance in this track. The emotions, angst, heartbreak and sorrow are just so overflowing. Truly Miley's signature song.
FLASHBACK 2012: HALEY REINHART, "Free" 2011: TAYLOR SWIFT, "Ours" 2010: GREEN DAY f/ THE CAST OF AMERICAN IDIOT, "21 Guns" 2009: THE VERONICAS, "Untouched"
♫"If you want me I'm accepting applications. So long as we can keep this record on rotation. You know I'm good with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation."♫
41 · SELENA GOMEZ, "Slow Down" Debut Date: July 27, 2013 Weeks on Chart: 9 Weeks Peak Position: #03
Missing a spot in the Top 40 is Selena's second single off her solo album. Unlike its predecessor, I instantly loved this one when I first heard it. The rhymes are there, the hooks are catchy and the beats are truly amazing. I actually think this one's a better single than "Come And Get It" though less interesting. Oh, and Selena's getting hotter, sexier and fiercer.
FLASHBACK 2012: NICKI MINAJ, "Starships" 2011: ONE DIRECTION, "What Makes You Beautiful" 2010: B.o.B f/ HAYLEY WILLIAMS, "Airplanes" 2009: KRISTINIA DEBARGE, "Goodbye"
