Why y'all don't understand something as simple.., Lord
She's still the most successful act today and she's more acclaimed (musically and performing wise) than Mariah by far. AND it's not a big deal..... Even Mariah could agree with this and be happy .
how can she be acclaimed when she doesnt have a classic album like all of the 5 legendary acts in the op?
What classic album does Mariah have? Her Christmas album?
Bey's last 2 albums are more praised than anything in mariahs discography. Stop it 5.
exactly, the magnum opus of seasonal joy, which is the best selling holiday album by any recording artist, featuring the biggest classic by a female artist, an original song at that. Let's not forget how #1's sold 3,5 million copies in Japan in 3 months.
Daydream alone is the textbook to Beyoncé's career.
I can also add that people are willing to spend lots of $$$ to attend her tour which obviously means they appreciate her performing abilities.
Oh and she has high grossing tours
So I was correct all along then and you were wrong in stating that I was implying bad performers have bad grossing.
Stay in school.

What we know is that Janet hasn't been and won't be inducted
And bey has surpassed both of them. Neither one has consistently slayed.
Whitney 1984 - 2000
Janet 1986 - 2001
It was cute while it lasted.
You guys are so naive.
Wow two black artists that have done their part in changing the landscape of popular music, just as much or even moreso than some of those that have been inducted, haven't been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I've never heard of a black artist being underrated, devalued, or put below a white artist for doing the exact same thing or even more.
I've also never heard of white artists stealing/borrowing/taking things from black artists and getting credit for it. Almost like i've never heard of a black artist doing something first, and then a white person doing it and then getting of the credit for it.
If some of you really need to step out of your white gay male bubbles, you would learn a thing or two.
OT: Like i've said time and time again, if Beyonce isn't already on their levels, she will with time. All of this conversation and she is only 34 years old. There is no doubt in my mind when all is said and done she will likely be the most praised/respected female artist ever, and the fact that she did it while black only makes it that much sweeter.
What has Bey done to even be compared to them? She doesn't have the sales or impact (what's her HUGE impact again? Surprise releasing on a Friday and become a Superbowl meme? Single Ladies going viral?) she is really successful but don't push it.

This.
I'm not here for these stans discrediting bey but I would never discredit what other black legends did before her. Contrary to popular belief here, this list is not set in stone and bey has/will join them up there too. Aretha started building the house but every legend/icon also added their style and continued to build the house that makes it possible for bey to do what she does today. Bey is also adding her style to the house and others will after her too.

Oh quit the race stuff. Madonna has done more than them. Better than them and slayed longer than them.
Tina Turner did a stadium tour in her 70s. Janet and Whitney couldn't even pull one off at their peak.
Aretha gets all her accolades all the time ... And is the most referred, praised and influential female artist of all time and didn't have to sell 100 million albums or get double digit amount of number ones. All she needed was a pen, a pad, her piano and her God given talent.

Well, over the past 20 years she's become extremely influential
Music
(a lot of songs are influenced by Crazy in love, a lot)
Vocal stylings
Styling/Costumes
Choreography
(her hip swaying, hair tossing, showgirl-esque style has been emulated by other female artists since 2003)
uuhhh, so many references here
And as for music videos, there's a lot I could post and not just from American and British artists, but from Asia and obviously she's influential in the middle east, South America and Africa.
Not to say these artists don't take influence from other stuff, but she's been consistently influential for almost 2 decades. ON top of all that she's influenced cultural and political discourse in the west.
Ever since DC she's been questioned a lot about her anti-men/pro-women lyrics
She has those big pop culture moments
And the big videos
and the major live performances
And well with around 200 million records sold (over 65 million albums including DC) and all these massive arena and stadium tours... She's most certainly on their level.
