No one really finds it weird though other than you a few other haters and Nicki stans.
!! THIS. They act as if Iggy is the only rapper to have an accent when they rap, whether it sounds authentic or not it's not their natural speaking voices.
Eminem sounds exactly the same and those videos prove it. And if you're talking about his Slim Shady voice, that's a character. Same thing goes for Nicki's Barbie, Martha, Roman, etc. But fundamentally (i.e. Lose Yourself, Pills N Potions), their rap accents are not drastically different from the way they talk.
Iggy on the other hand has no character she plays. That faux Southern accent isn't supposed to one side of Iggy's many creative characters, it's "supposed" to be Iggy. Slim Shady's voice, Martha's voice, Roman's voice—all of those are put on and acknowledged as so. Iggy however goes around talking about that's how she "naturally" raps. It's so evident in Fancy live when the chorus comes and she's talking the words in that faux Southern accent; it was even more evident at Summer Jam when she began her speech in her faux Southern accent and somehow found herself back in her natural Australian accent in 30 seconds.
Your argument just doesn't work. At all.
It's even weirder when she tries to do it when speaking at her shows, like the beginning of this performance:
Watch the performance too though...that just doesn't seem like a natural rapper. It seems like rap karaoke at a fancy dress party with a white girl from Australia getting up and giving it a go. It just...doesn't seem natural...
Ugh, I wish Azealia was in Iggy's position because Azealia wouldn't take that. She would respond with barz. Nonetheless, I will be waiting for T.I's response or Iggy bragging about a #1
Btw Grammys are trash, as we saw last year with Macklemore winning over Kendrick Lamar
& I don't get the writing her own rhymes shade.
Didn't Kanye have a ghostwriter/ ghost write for ppl at one point.
If he's not above it then what gives her the right to be.
That wasn't true, lol.
And female rappers are always said to have ghostwriters, thanks to the icons of yesteryear.

BET has 0 credibility and no one cares about it the day after it happens. If Iggy wins the Grammy is will definitely be more impressive
Nicki is safe from the "accent" attack now because they were supposedly "characters" NO. it was just her gimmick just like Iggy''s "Southern accent" is her gimmick.
Who cares if they're "gimmicks" though? They're good. Nicki does them well. Watch that video above. Just watch it. And then think of all the amazingly talented, African-American girls who might be overweight or considered not attractive enough to be pop stars, who can rap circles around this girl. When everyone on here stans for talent and shades live vocal performances from Katy Perry or Miley or Rihanna for missing one note, it's amazing that Iggy's performances are just let off the hook because "oh well, that's just the accent she's come up with I guess?"
How do you know that? Iggy Azalea is her stage name so she is a character just like Nicki Minaj, 2Chainz, Slim Shady, and anybody else.

How do I know what? Be specific. Stage name =/= a character. Eminem, Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, Iggy Azalea—those are all stage names. Slim Shady, Martha, Roman—those are characters.
Nicki's normal rapping is not drastically different from her speaking accent. Eminem's normal rapping is not drastically different from her speaking accent. Iggy's normal rapping IS drastically different from her speaking accent. I'm not sure why you can't comprehend these differences.
And lol @ gimmick, Iggy would never refer to her accent as a "gimmick". Like I said, she claims it's how she "naturally raps"

Now yall want to beef?
Remember this tho? "I don't respond to negativity" and blah blah. What happened Nicki?

Ok and theres plenty of underground skinny white/black girls who could rap circles around NIcki and Iggy combined .Both of them used their gimmick to their advantage.
No one really finds it weird though other than you a few other haters and Nicki stans.
Like I stan for her and I don't even know what this "fake accent" is that you guys are always on about. That's how she believes you are supposed to rap so that's how she raps. Like... Get over it.
Firstly, and I really hope this is the last time I say this because I'm sick of saying it on here, I'm not a hater. I don't hate this girl. I hardly know her. However I'm sure she's a beautiful person who loves her family, her friends, her siblings, her boyfriend, etc. She has emotions and feelings and she's a real person. So I could never hate her. Do I dislike her voice? Yes. That is an opinion and I'm entitled to it. That does not mean I'm full of hate. I'm allowed to not like her voice.
Furthermore, there's no way of you quantifying how many people do and don't like her fake accent. You don't know the opinions of every single person existing outside of ATRL. My best friend doesn't like Iggy's rapping voice, and I was talking to 2 girls at work about it the other day and they said they "loved the Clueless video and the chorus but they can't stand her." So that's 3 more people to add to your "few haters and Nicki stans."
If a portion of people represent these views on ATRL then that's what's called a sample size. And it's highly likely that our opinions are also believed by many others who don't participate on ATRL. For every phone call complaint a company receives, they assume 10,000 other people were dissatisfied but couldn't be bothered picking up the phone to complain. It's the same thing here. We're just representing our own opinions and that's ok. And that's all they are. Opinions. It's how people on here have interesting conversations. There's nothing to "get over." We're having an interesting conversation. It's better than threads where everyone's just typing the name of their fave to answer a question.

Yes but strip Nicki of her gimmicks and there's still natural, raw talent underneath. Everything on top is just good marketing. But that's all Iggy seems to be. Good marketing. Good clothes, good image, good logos, good branding (late 80s, early 90s Miami Vice feel), movie-themed music videos, good production, good features, she looks like a white model and she's meant to rap like a black girl from the south. It all works on paper but it's completely manufactured.
Especially considering we're meant to be moving out of the manufactured, 90s-2000s pop star era, with phenomenally talented artists like Adele and Lorde entering the industry.
How long ago has it been since this video ustream recorded?
When has she said her name?
What exactly are you thinking?
You fans are all rooting for Nicki because she dissed Iggy and think Iggy is weak because she won't respond back with a diss song but when Nicki was new in the game and basically in Iggy's position a couple years back everyone was saying she was weak for this and it took her to be taunted multiple times to finally respond back with this
