I don't think his image matters that much. He had the platform, the popularity. Whataya Want From Me did well. He just needed to release hits as singles and not Dr. Luke crumbs.
From now on it will be difficult though, he's pretty much back to zero. But I don't think changing his image is the answer.

Nope! He was waaay more flamboyant during FYE AND HE HAD RADIO HITS AND A SOLDOUT TOUR. He just needs to find a recording label who understands and respects his artistic vision. No more generic pop tracks, he should go full on alt/electro/rock kind've like Trespasiing mixed with Beg for Mercy! He has the opportunity now with new wave and disco music on top of the charts. i'VE GOT FAITH IN THE MOST SUCCESLY OPENLY GAY ARTIST IN THE WORLD

Imagine if RCA actually pushed Trespassing as the lead back in December 2011 like originaly planned. King would've snatched dance, rock and pop audiences. It was supposed to be his "Rolling In The Deep", or "Let's Dance". His breakthrough smash and then Cuckoo was set to follow to be the GLOBAL SUMMER ANTHEM that Call Me Basic managed to be. And then they should've sent Naked Love to the uk, then Chokehold for a us radio single then Shady as the 5th single, then end the era with Outlaws Of Love. Interscope or Capitol would've took that masterpiece of an album to at least 5 MILLION worldwide. Cause our LGBT FAVES to start smashing on a global level. Smh. The era that could've been
