Well, you initially worded it "over," so I think that rose the argument about who's coming.
It won't be difficult for Katy, Rihanna, Gaga, Britney, etc. to all come back and hoard in the top 10. Females weren't ever really dominating in the sense I feel everyone is speaking, imo. They were just all heavily active at the same time. It's redundant to say their reign is over, if they're inactive. That's just a given until they do come out again.

There was a point where it was just females topping the Hot 100 for about 19 weeks straight in 2011. During that time, there were weeks where nine songs in the top ten were by female artists. Compared to this year where the number one was held down by male artists for 18 consecutive weeks.
I just think there will be more of a balance rather than a sheer dominance (hence the era of the pop girl being over, rather than the pop girls themselves), but at the same time, there probably won't be any number ones (or otherwise large hits) from pop girls for quite a while. The only ones we've got going on that haven't yet peaked at the moment or are soon to peak (like Heart Attack) are C&GI and The Way. And the big ones like whom you mentioned aren't imminently releasing anything new, either. So until then, the charts will largely be dominated by other parties.
I understand how my statement could be misunderstood though. Maybe it'd have been better to say the era of the pop girl is on hiatus? That actually sounds more accurate anyway.
