Yeah, The Great Gatsby soundtrack and movie being released this week have NOTHING to do with it.

People here need to stop pretending that all of this success from Lana is coming from nowhere just because Y&B is not being played on radio. Radio is not the only form of promo, neither is performing it a thousand times. Let's see how she maintains it after this week.

The Great Gatsby was highly anticipated, promoted, etc. etc. Again, Lana is not getting all of this on her own, so I don't see the need to say, "she's slaying with NO promo or airplay." The song was struggling to stay in the top 100 not too long ago, so something is obviously pushing it.

Oh really? Have you seen many movie soundtracks smashing like that all of a sudden? We've got plenty of examples of songs by huge artists that flopped even the week the movie was out. A couple of months the most recent example if you know what I mean. LOL. Clearly, the public responds in a massive way.

I am not saying it is not the movie. Of course it is. But it's rare to see such a reaction by the general public. Doesn't happen very often.

Actually yes. Pitbull - Back in Time for example, also Adele's Skyfall, Christina Perri's A Thousand Years (which btw went no. 1 combined on iTunes) etc.

Those had a lot of airplay and they were pushed hard on the radio. Heck, Adele even had a massive multi format deal the first day. I mean songs that had only the movie as a vehicle to reach the general public. It happens but it is rare.
