They certainly weren't going to polish the track in the studio or else that would have easily given it away. The beginning of Firework was maybe live, but the rest def wasn't. Those high notes that Katy was "hitting" in IKAG alone.

She's far from a "fad"

Her Jazz album and DVD is doing fantastic sales and reviews wise (charts wise too) Her Jazz tour is doing great too and is high on demanded (it was only going to be a US tour but dates in different countries were added) yeah she isn't doing any huge performances at big award shows (yet) but she will be soon. She's still on the radar.

All the performance had somewhat imperfect vocals, it was pre-recorded to sound live anyway. Just like that part the audience sang CG must have been a track too. Whenever she talked to the audience, her voice was really pitchy. Just go back and watch. Katy, her tricky ways.
