not really, racism in politics operates on a very coded level nowadays. Republicans don't campaign against black people voting outright, they talk about voter fraud and how we need to pass laws that are more stringent on proof of identity, which leads to voter suppression. we haven't had a senator or presidential candidate run a strohm thurman-esque campaign in recent memory before Trump and now Trump has brought this type of politics back to the forefront with his decisions to appoint Bannon and Sessions

Hillary only released 16 years of tax returns

and again, the standard is for the nominee to release their tax returns so Bernie was going above and beyond by releasing his one year of tax returns (although he did wait a bit too long to release them imo)

Exactly. It's always been normalized behind the scenes especially on the GOP side. It wasn't until Trump provided a safe haven for them that the wolves came out. Nevertheless, they do conspire against non-whites (The biggest form is mass incarceration to turn states red)
But now it's out in the open so people don't feel comfortable seeing Bernie on tv claim that most Trump voters are not racist.

this is so true. the drug war + the disenfranchisement of felons to keep them from voting has to be the biggest modern civil rights issue right now. And to think Bernie is the only modern politician to address this issue head on in his campaign. Sad!

She released 8 years this time. 8 years the campaign before. 8 years before her senate run. And before that, she released her joint ones with Bill. Their tax returns go back to 1977.

I can't imagine what Trump would have been like trying to negotiate the Iran deal. He really has no chill. If they said something he didn't like, he'd probably storm out of the room angry.

Though I'm not sure if this is a GOOD thing or a BAD thing. Because one hand, if we, his supposed "allies" are afraid of his reckless behavior, the US's enemies might be wary too of what this crazy, orange CON might do if they cross him/the US.

At the end of the day, it's not that surprising that Palin and Ann Coulter will end up as Trump haters. One is an actual populist while the other is an actual antiglobalist.

One thing that will be interesting to see is how Trump's Supreme Court appointment will play out. One of my professors was telling me today that he foresees Democrats demanding that Trump appoint Garland because it is not his seat to fill, Constitutionally. He said it is highly likely that if Trump tries to appoint a Scalia-esque nominee - especially a young one - the Democrats will filibuster the nomination.

This puts Republicans in an interesting position though! In 2013, Obama was trying to fill several vacancies in the DC Circuit Court and the Republicans were filibustering those nominations. In response, the Democrats invoked a parliamentary procedure to re-interpret the rules of these appointments so that cloture - ending a filibuster and taking a vote - for these court nominees only requires a simple majority (50 votes if all 100 Senators are present) instead of a supermajority (60 votes). This means that Republicans could use this precedent to force through any of Trump's Supreme Court nominees if the Democrats try to filibuster them, even though Republicans do not currently have a supermajority in the Senate. Prepare for national outrage.

There's no positives to come from a Trump presidency on foreign affairs.

People point to better ties with Russia.. but the US doesn't need better ties when Russia are being the aggressors in almost every circumstance and improving those relations will give Russia a foot in the door to press Trump and the US even more. If they aren't careful, Trump could get horribly played by Russia in the next while. Not here for that.

Pushing China is also not the way to go. They'll almost definitely bite back especially on something like Taiwan. Obviously Taiwan deserves independence but inflaming China right now is really not a clever idea.

He better hope he can knock out ISIS as that's really all he has right now so if he fails to do that in the next 4 years (or at least improve the situation) then A terrorist attack would be damning for him especially if it happened after all of his measures to prevent it from happening were implemented.
