What is your definition of smashing? Getting airplay on radio stations where the average age of the artists on the playlist is 22-25 years old? All of you who make fun of Mariah, JLO and Madonna you think your favs are going to get any airplay when they are over 35? The US radio industry is very ageist. Being no1 on z100 or kiis is not what makes you successful. Having a career for decades is! Most pop stars cannot even last for 2-3 years without having their first flops.

Ugh, Of Monsters and Men really should have performed on SNL a couple months ago and then had Glee cover the song, it could have been a Top 10 hit for them if they had promoted earlier , still a certified hit though and one of the better songs to experience success of the past year

Get Lucky and The Way are amazing and they better smash

And YESS Selena, one of the BEST pop songs released so far in 2013 (despite that horrible second verse)

"We Belong Together" spent 16 weeks at #1 on Hot 100 Airplay, it was named the biggest song of 2005 and the biggest song of the decade, but somehow failed to go #1 on Digital Songs and sold under 1.5 million.

Even Madonna has done better digitally -- "Hung Up" peaked at #42 on Hot 100 Airplay but logged multiple at #1 on Digital Songs with stronger sales than acts such as 50 Cent, Eminem, Green Day, and Gwen Stefani who were dominating at the time.
