but doesn't the song need both pop and hac support to do anything? right when hac starts to speed up, pop slows down. :/

This is correct, but by comparing the spins from two days in a row we can see if it's on the rise or not.
but the radio playlist on weekdays and weekends are different ..
they might tend to play more party song near weekend ... so it doesn't show anything ..
and the spins increase from day before might mislead people to think that it should get a big update (just like these few days .. and in reality it get its lowest update in a while ..)
