I just watched the special, and I can't even know what so say. It started off good. When she performed "We Belong Together" I was like, the lip-synching is not even that obvious and they used new pre-recorded live vocals, so what's all the fuss about? But when "Money" came on I was appalled. This performance was the concentrated evidence how amateurishly this special was put together. I don't know why they picked "Money" in the first place as it does not seem to be a very good live track to me but the way they did it was a mess. She did not look good sitting or lying on that bar. They obviously recorded the performance at least twice and dilettantishly edited them into one because the one second Mariah sat to the right, the other second she leant to the left. The editing of the entire special was so bad. I couldn't believe they actually showed the entire video of "Eternal" without one comment.
I am so mad at her team and management. Because everything they do is half-ass and they are destroying the chance to make this a good era. If she truly wants to put the album out just like that, well, then that's fine. I'm like, you don't have to promote it if you don't want to but if you do it, then please do it
right! If she wanted the release the album as a whole then why did they release "Thirsty" on radio? If just putting the album out without another single is the strategy then that's cool but at least stick to it then. If you do a tv special then make it sure it puts her in a good light. They are so undecided and it just shows. Everything they do ends up being an unprofessional mess. And I'm sick and tired of it.
What frustrates me is not that she doesn't sell that much anymore but the way they (her team, JD in particular, the entire label) treat her. Maybe she is not as relevant anymore but she is ****ing Mariah Carey, for God's sake. She is a ****ing legend. Treat her like that and when you do you would see that it would pay off, too. Seriously, if we all were to do a special for her it would have been a whole lot better than this mess. I would have let her sing "You Don't Know What To Do" and "#Beautiful" and would have gotten George Michael out of hospital to perform "One More Try" with her together. I would have made a tv deal and broadcasted this in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. They mistreat her and mismanage this album and just put out one song after another wondering why it doesn't well. As a dedicated lamb this is painful to witness, and I can only hope she is not going to renew her contract with Def Jam/Universal and will finally let go of Jermaine Dupri as a manager. Leave them, Mariah, and you will miss them almost half as much they miss you.
