It's not even in my top 10 horror films.... and yes Silent Hill is really good
I saw The Conjuring last night. It didn't scare me but I can see why it would be scary to others. I thought it was a solid horror movie though, especially when compared to a lot of the other stuff that has come out in more recent years.
I do blame the reason I didn't "love" it on my experience. The theater was really crowded and I had to sit fourth row. I don't know whether it was because I was so close or because the projection was off (I think the latter) but it was a little out of focus and everything hds slight cyan/red edges to it. (Honestly, if I had those cheap 3D cyan/red glasses, I probably could have seen it slightly in 3D.)
I had four young teenage guys in front of me who kept talking, looking at their phones, making really really awful jokes, saying "this is so gay" and "this is so retarded" despite the fact they all jumped out of their seats during the first scare. I was so ready to kick the back of their chairs and tell them off but I'm just not that kind of person haha. Then I had people behind me like "oh muh god!!!! you seen the trailer!?" basically clueing me into the fact that something scary was about to happen. I avoid trailers at all cost, I had seen absolutely nothing for this movie and then to have scares ruined for me like that was annoying.
In the end though, I thought it was a good horror that may have suffered for me due to my bad experience. Nothing particularly made me jump or really get that feeling of dread but I got chills on one or two occassions.
My least favorite part was the beginning and the incorporation of the doll. It had nothing to do with anything and was included only to be a "creepy doll" and I really was not feeling that.
I just finished The Purge. Ugh, it was even worse than when I saw it in theaters. It's an AWESOME concept, but they did everything wrong. The characters were major idiots, it's plagued with plot holes, just a lot of things didn't make sense.
These aren't really spoilers at all but I'll tag them just to be safe.
There's so many negatives about this movie. It's just astounding that this script was ever approved. I really do love the concept, but the execution was god awful. I hope they get new writers for the sequel because it got unbearably idiotic at times.
We have to talk about how underrated the SAW series is.
Everyone says how it's just senseless splatter when actually I can't think of another franchise that succesfuly maintains such a complex story over 7 movies with only small plot holes.
It deserves much more respect. The bst horror movies franchise of all time after Scream tbh
The Conjuring was a well made movie but in all honesty I thought Insidious was scarier.
Can't wait for the second. But I'm not sure how they're doing it because the last one ended with Josh strangling the old lady because the spirit got into him
