Truthfully even with the "like" system, it would still be derailed since no one is taking the OP seriously.

The thread wasn't given a fighting chance after that post was made though. Things probably would have been different with a like system. Do you really think all of those people would have co-signed that post had they thought for a minute that they'd get WPs? Like system aside, co-signing posts like that should be warnable, which is part of my pitch.

It's just frustrating to see your idea get knocked down when you're one of the few contestants actually trying to address a current issue and fix it. I don't see the point in ignoring problems with the site in favour of adding some trivial new feature that won't improve the forum atmosphere at its core. Perhaps I'm the only member on ATRL who gets annoyed when threads are derailed like that.

And yes I do know I'm being super annoying right now but I kind of feel like I'm fighting for my place in this competition and I don't really just wanna be like "yeah it's over". If I can say anything that might sway your opinion I'm gonna try.

Personally, I think that even with a like system, people would still end up trying to derail threads with their tryhard posts anyway; since it stems to a need of validation. It would probably just be a further incentive to get the most likes + quotes since quite a few members think co-signing isn't warnable. (It's just a matter of whether a mod has the time to warn all of them vs the thread being permanently off the rails in which case it's closed).

But you're right. It's a good suggestion at least to stir discussions regarding current issues. I just feel that it'll take more than implementing a reputation system to counteract the amount of side-skirting that goes on with co-signing in general.

Edit: I don't think it's a bad idea honestly. I just question its effectiveness on ATRL.
