Not guaranteed. people said the video would skyrocket the song. People said that this was going to be a mega hit based on the demo version.
It appears that people know the song but they are not interested enough to support it. For an artist like Christina the impact of a new song would need to be almost immediate. The chances of this rebounding are slim. I honestly thought it would hover the top 20 by now but if it is almost 40 and the song is slowing down not even top 20 on pop with all of the summer songs falling down the chart then that speaks volumes.
Historically, Sept/Oct is usually the most clever time to release songs because summer songs fall at a faster rate and there is a brief period where songs have higher peak potential versus the clouded December or April-August timeframe.
Perhaps she is following the Stripped era template.
She needs a 'Beautiful' type song out before the album release.
