Mr. Hush was probably the worst attempt at a horror movie I have ever seen

Just got back from watching The Conjuring. It wasn't scary at all. I'm very disappointed.

But it was a really great movie in my opinion, and one of the best horror films in recent years.The acting was by far the best in horror films in a LONG time. The scares, while a little predictable, at this point everything is. It doesn't rely on cheap gore or limbs being chopped off to get reactions. I think my favorite thing was the way it was written. It takes so many turns, and a lot of things I didn't expect. You can tell they are setting up for a sequel heavily which is the reason the doll kept getting featured, I'm pretty sure they are going to further follow the story around it

Its not perfect, and it has its flaws, but after a slew of horror movies in recent years just being mostly "meh" this one certainly takes the cake and puts faith in finally having well written horror movies without any gimmicks.

I give it a 9/10

I'm about to watch Insidious so I can properly compare it to The Conjuring when I go to see it for a second time tomorrow night. Insidious was so great, I hope Insidious 2 does it justice

The thing that ruined it for me is that they advertised nearly all of the scares. I know that most horror movies do that but it isn't smart. I wish horror movies did things like they did with Paranormal Activity 3, where they fill the trailers with fake footage that'll make you want to see it.

AHH Insidious is still amazing. It seems to be a love or hate movie but I'm one of the lucky people who love it. It has the best scares from any recent horror movie, lbr. None of that jump scare crap. Although I think it definitely matters on how you watch the movie. I watched that on my laptop in the dark with my headphones on. I'm sure The Conjuring will be pretty scary the same way.

I'm really excited for Insidious: Chapter 2 now, but I need to rewatch the trailer because how can they move on after an ending like that?

Though the third act crumble a bit, but I really think the ghost-busters humor involved is awesome lol.

I liked the "further" thing. It was kinda trippy. People complain about the amateur cinematography in that part but it's obviously intentional.

That big bearded guy was so funny I love when the smaller guy pulls out a flashlight and then the bearded guy pulls out a giant one. It was so inappropriately placed but it almost made it better.

I know the trailer looks generic af but I have hope. I think the red demon from the first movie might make it back in, they're just not revealing it in the trailers. It'd be weird without it.

I loved the camera scene in Insidious otherwise the movie was ok.

I watched Evil Dead yesterday.

I really, really liked it. It was more gore than real horror though. There were some tense moments but overall no real jumps or scares. I loved the look and style of it a lot!

I really wanna watch The Conjuring now! Please update this thread as soon as it's available somewhere.

There were definitely some intense jump moments in it and I remember that I sometimes didn't even watch the screen on purpose. It was an awesome horror movie before the dad went into that dream world. After that, everything went downhill. Literally.

I watched the german version. They normally cut a lot out. But they actually just censored the scene where that one girl's arm falls on the ground after she cut it off plus some seconds where they tape the wound. . The rest is there though.
