It says nothing of the sort though. They said that they finally heard "Birthday" on the radio, but they left out the awkward "Happy Birthday" whisper from the bridge. The version without it is the radio edit. I think you may have misunderstood.

Go back and read it: "they left the happy birthday which sounded so awkward on radio". That tells me they're playing the album version.

I'm hearing on several stations the album version with that whole bridge instrumental part cut out altogether. And it goes straight to the birthday suit lyric.
I feel that (like with DH) stations are making their own edits of the song.

These bootleg radio station cut ups on DH and Birthday sound so weird and jarring.
For me, the worst is on HAC stations when they cut out Juicy's rap and it goes straight to the last chorus. So awk.
