Some news for horror sequels:

Paramount delayed Paranormal Activity 5 from the franchise's usual October date to January 3rd, 2014 . The main reason for the big delay of the fifth installment is that the studio has yet to find a director....... a script and ANYTHING.

To be more specific, the "PA5" that will be put out on January 3rd is not actually a direct sequel to the previous films. It will be a Latino Spin-Off instead (which means it is not the real PA5)...... the studio is aiming to put out the continuation of the main storyline of the series on 2014 Halloween, which could be titled as Paranormal Activity 6 (the original PA5). So no PA movies this year, but there could be 2 PA movies in 2014.

When PA5 moved to January 3rd, another horror sequel set to be released on the same date got scared. Weinstein company delayed The Amityville Horror sequel, "The Amityville Horror:
The Lost Tapes", to avoid direct competition with PA5 on January 3rd.

I'm gonna copy and paste my post from the The Conjuring thread.

I just got back from this like an hour ago, it was really good! Although honestly I think it's a bit overhyped. For me it felt like it never climaxed. There wasn't one moment that genuinely scared me, but that's probably because I rarely get scared, and also the stupid 12 year old girls ruined every suspenseful moment with their screams.

I'd give it an 8/10. It doesn't live up to the hype but it certainly doesn't disappoint.

Spoiler discussion:

The big thing that annoyed me was the use of the Annabelle doll. Why was it included? What was the point? For use in the trailers? The only major role it played was when the Warren's daughter was locked in the forbidden room and that scene was used in the trailer/TV spots.

One thing that made me happy though is that the Asian guy didn't die. Random I know but it seems like Asians always die in movies.

So yeah you guys should see it but after seeing this, I suddenly have more faith in Insidious 2. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Oh and I also want to add that the articles saying this will become a horror classic, that must be payola or something. I mean it was great but it's not really anything special. It doesn't stand out next to any of the other demon movies.

The Conjuring was okay. It wasn't bad, I mean it was very entertaining, I guess I was just expecting more. But it wasn't bad.

Ok finished Autopsy... didn't like the ending but it wasn't a bad movie overall

I just started Mr. Hush and I am tempted to turn it off right after I heard these people say their first lines what horrible acting

I just got back from seeing The Conjuring and I was so glad it was set during the 70's and didn't have any of that iPhone app/cam mess they use in recent films today. A very good/scary atmosphere, and Vera Farmiga's acting was amazing. I'd give it a 8/10, only thing I didn't like was that stupid doll, very cheap and predictable imo.
