I think there's maybeee 10 hours left? So you can get a possible 10 points at max. Maybe add in 1-3 more Ellie Goulding multiplier pictures and you could get 16 (but that's obviously a guestimation as I don't know how many Element will post.)

HYGTG is way too basic for Taylor though. She's capable of so much better and did so much better on the album.
I Know Places just feels forced and out of place on the album. I like her true to life story telling, something about it feels impersonal to me.

I think Welcome to New York is very underrated, actually. It may be a tad repetitive and also "basic" according to many but Bloomers' description is exactly what I was gonna say. It really is a perfect opening track to this album, I couldn't imagine anything else being the big introduction. It's VERY 80's so it fits the album title, it's about New York so it fits the setting, it has a massive pop feel to it which fits the genre. It just embodies the whole album, pretty much. But outside of that, it's still a really adorable song that really makes me want to head on a plane to NY and walk the streets with it blaring on my headphones.

WTNY is repetitive, I agree, but not as much as OOTW
It could've been a great song otherwise.

ajkl, I almost missed that one for real.
I was spamming radio requests for "Let's Not Be Alone Tonight" on Twitter and wasn't at all paying attention to the time. Thank God I glanced at the clock when I did; literally tossed my phone to the side and lunged towards the computer.

Welcome To New York sucks and is the only bad song on 1989. It's like the new Pretty Hurts, an opening track that diminishes the value of the album if not skipped swiftly

But why does reptitiveness mess up either of them? If anything it just makes it so much more catchy and gets it stuck in your head. Both have great production and give a nice feeling when listening to them.

It becomes grating and feels lazy, moreso for OOTW
I'm all for repetitiveness if it actually adds some value i.e. Walking On Air
Being "catchy" isn't always a good thing

And anyways, you can make something catchy without being repetitive
Style being a great example of this put in action

Pretty Hurts is great, too Am I the only one that actually likes full albums these days? I feel like so many people nit-pick through the tracks and find flaws that aren't really there.
To me, at least, WTNY is that amazing intro (as I explained) and if I was planning to listen to the whole album, I'd definitely not skip it. Plus, the transition from it to Blank Space is great. The ending of WTNY where she goes "Welcome to NEW YORK!" and then the silence comes is awesome, it lets you know what you're going into and know that the Bible has begun. Then you have that brief moment of silence and that slay of BS's instrumental pops up and you begin to party even more.

I'm a big fan of full albums, but sometimes there's one track that's way below the other tracks, so I have to skip it. Pretty Hurts is my main example, cause it's just awful. WTNY to a much lesser extent, but it's still subpar

Out of The Wood's repetitiveness works for the song though.
The repetitiveness of the title is like a little scared kid putting their head down and covering their eyes repeating the words. I think it works with that scary snowmobile ride.

I listen to full albums mostly.
That's why I hate those two 1989 songs so much. I have to listen to them on the album.
I've only deleted songs off three albums. Bang Bang from My Everything, most of Bruno Mars's debut, and Good TIme from Kiss.

 Pretty Hurts is amazing.
I hate Sia, but I have to admit, it's a good song.

If it works for the song, then it must say a lot about that song.
I like OOTW.. just not the chorus, I feel like they could've done a lot more with it

I'm too lazy to reply to everything else (I'm not the best at debates)
but this is the tea:

Plus she even said herself that the repetitiveness was intentional, as it was to give the feeling of curiosity and questioning, and having it paired with the other lyrics makes it have sense. It also doesn't hinder it in the actual song because it makes the lyrics memorable, easy to sing along to and gives it a more anthemic feel. Plus when you have an amazing, booming chorus like that, you don't even have to focus as much on the lyrics when you have that production backing it.

The melody of the song is cute, but the lyrics are cringeworthy and offensively basic and I've always thought Bey's vocals don't suit the pop genre, so I dislike the vocal performance too. If one of the pop-rock girls, like Kelly Clarkson, had it and rewrote the lyrics, I'd be able to kinda use it for coffee table music
