Most Inspired (and Inspiring)
Christina Aguilera
Everyone knows Aguilera's got pipes — but probably not even her most devoted fans could've imagined her channeling James Brown with the magnetic fervor she displayed tonight. Crouched on the floor, clutching the mic stand, and belting full-throttle from beginning to end, Xtina didn't so much sing ''It's a Man's Man's Man's World'' as she did unleash it on her mesmerized audience. This is the 2007 Grammy performance to remember; the Godfather of Soul would be proud.

BEST PERFORMANCES : John Legend, John Mayer and Corinne Bailey Rae's soulful collaboration that included a medley of Bailey Rae's "Like a Star" Legend's "Heaven" and Mayer's "Gravity" made this listener think that a tour with the three of them would make a fantastic summer concert. Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie and Chris Brown, performing "Tracks of My Tears" "Hello" and "Run It" make the case that R&B has indeed been passed down from generation to generation. Brown's dance salute to the late James Brown shows that Brown has not left without leaving his mark and Christina Aguilera's impassioned performance of "It's a Man's World" proved definitively that that that chick has a black woman's soul. Mary J. Blige sang her hit "Be Without You" with an orchestra. While it didn't quite match her classic performance of "No More Drama" at the 2002 Grammys it did show that Mary wears the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul crown well.
Christina Aguilera's impassioned performance of "It's a Man's [Man's] World" proved definitively that that that chick has a black woman's soul.

This is one of my favorite reviews.
"The mighty Aguilera delivered a memorable, perhaps legendary, performance of James Brown's "It's A Man's World.""
