How are either of their promotion tactics classless? Rihanna's aren't. I don't think taking advantages of opportunities is classless. And when it comes to releasing separate remixes they both played extremely dirty.
BOTH Def Jam & Capitol want the #1, BOTH want the sales & BOTH want whatever else they can get by doing the remix release. They'll tweet links, give it advertisements some first singles could never dream of, etc.
