THANTH and Love Profusion deserved to go now.. but.
Miles Away is NOT better than Devil. NO
I Want You is her best cover! Do you guys just not like Trip-Hop?
Gone is top 5 material.
So is Secret Garden
"Secret Garden" is in some way the most sensual song from Erotica in the
way that it uses a more subtle and down-played approach. It seems to use jazz influences
really really well.
As mentioned before its my second favourite Madonna song.
Favourite lyrics: A petal that isn't torn
A heart that will not harden
A place that I can be born
In my secret garden
A rose without a thorn
A lover without scorn
35 Time Stood Still
34 I'll Remember
33 Masterpiece
32 Pray For Spanish Eyes
31 Has To Be
30 In This Life
29 Nothing Fails
28 X-Static Process
27 Easy Ride
26 To Have And Not To Hold
25 Love Profusion
24 Devil Wouldn't Recognize You
23 I Want You
22 Gone
21 Secret Garden
!!!!!!!!! some of her best. mess at love profusion being so high, tho. horrible song
and i don't think secret garden is 'sensual' at all, i think it's a very paranoid and lost song
the whole album of erotica has madonna trying on different personas and **** to explore the many facets of her sexuality and what turns her on and why those things hurt her in the end etc. she spends the whole album examining herself, and then secret garden is at the end to tie up all the loose ends.
"i just wish i knew the color of my hair" she is lost after morphing into so many other kinds of women she can't even think about who she is! the whole song is about how she has persevered through the hate and criticism and after being heartbroken so many times she wants someone to love her uncle deshawn ali. she wants a child!

i think it's such a beautiful song
That... actually makes a LOT of sense. I hadn't ever thought of it that way!
I guess what I meant by sensual was the way she sings/her voice and he production which adds a dark sexual feel to it. It's kind of like with Waiting and Where Life Begins on the same album. The way it sounds feels very cool, suave and ultimately sensual.

ya
like Waiting is very detached, hurt and cold and Where Life Begins is very satricial, tongue in cheek (and tongue in *****) kind of song. both have that cool acid jazz/drum n bass sound. the whole album sounds very sensual, but when you take a deeper listen you realize it's really just a series of heartache and pain.

I think that's why I like the album so much. It's got a lot of twists and turns to it and it's certainly one of her most well-thought out concepts.
