I think it can pass 8 million by the end of 2016. While I personally think that songs should take two million downloads to reach Platinum and 200-250 million streams to equal one million downloads, Ronson's label needs to jump on the opportunity to get Uptown Funk certified Diamond under the current criteria while it's still way up on the Hot 100.
The only other song to cross 10 million mark (physical singles) while still on the Hot 100 was Candle In The Wind 1997/Something About The Way You Look Tonight, with about two million in sales from non-Soundscan affiliated retailers, like grocery stores, quick markets, and high end retail stores that did not traditionally sell music.
UF has crossed the Diamond level while the song still ranks within the Top 15. So the song deserves to receive recognition for this accomplishment ASAP!

UF should get to #9 within the next three weeks or so, but then there's a bigger gap until it could reach #8 Hey Jude. I'm surprised Hey Jude ranks behind I Want To Hold Your Hand honestly. I'd never paid attention to that before. Then once it gets past #6-8, you reach #5 We Are The World. Considering WATW went Quadruple Platinum under the pre-1989 RIAA rules, the only song to do so, meaning it had to sell 8 million physical copies instead of just 4 million (close to Candle In The Wind 1997 11 million), but the old, flawed Hot 100 chart methodology in 1985 only kept WATW at #1 4 weeks, and it finished the year at #20???), WATW should be 4 million points higher than the rankings show.
Not withstanding that error on the UWC's part, UF could potentially pass every song except Candle In The Wind 1997 since UFs still going strong worldwide, and should for a while. There's no way UF could ever overtake Candle In The Wind, and that UWC figure is not even taking into account all of the copies the song sold in non-Soundscan countries -- 33 million total copies sold worldwide.
