Yes, it very well might!
The
Billboard formula isn't very complicated at all. If a song was listened to an estimated 101,562,000 times, then the song gains 101.562 points. If that same song was downloaded 154,678 times, then the song gains 154.678 points. Its total points with just those two factors combined is 256.240.
Billboard also has streaming points, but those are very little and we're not sure how those are really calculated. All we know is AOL and Yahoo! make up a big part of streaming points. Streaming points really do nothing for a song's position unless two songs are really close in points.
"California Gurls" needs to sell about 58,000 more copies digitally than "OMG" to get ahead of it, which would most likely place it at number one. It looks like that will happen, too!
