American accents are def. real though. The amount of times a waiter/store employee uses "y'all"
I have adapted y'all into my daily vocabulary but I'm not southern. It's a southern thing.
I'd just rather say that than say "you guyzzs!! ;P" and **** all the time.
I just moved from the South to the Midwest last year. I remember when I had a hard time at first understanding some people because of the way they pronounce specific words or the way they call something by a different name. For example, I had no clue what a "pop" was at first (I have a part-time job as a cashier). Then I figured out that's what they call soda here.
This is making me realize I don't really think of what y'alls voices/accents sound like. We all sound different IRL but on the internet it's all the same

Well I usually visit places on the American west coast, especially Washington and Oregon and even there, I'm immediately stricken by how everyone greets you "Good afternoon y'all", "How y'all doing" or "What can I get y'all".
I adopted y'all and mess into my daily vocabulary, it's embarrassing.
I'll probably adopt some UK and Aus. mannerisms next from watching so many Kylie interviews lately - I subconsciously do things like this all the time, even with like friends and stuff. I'll accidentally let out a "beg" instead of "bag" or something and everyone's like "you're from Illinois and you don't have an accent, what the hell are you doing?"
