Sorry, but that's very un-correct.
Adam manages to be totally involved with his team and especially considering how in the maintime he:
- recorded an album
recorded at least 3 songs for other's albums (Wiz Khalifa, 50 cent, The Game
TOURED (and did for HAO and for Overexposed);
acted in Can a song Save Your Life
Acted in American Horror Story.
The fact he didn not know about that performance details means just that he is not up for flamboyant tricks on the scene (and he has always stated that), but maybe that contestant was so they bend to the will of teh contestant more than his? that doesn't mean he doesn't "coach".
Adam took Javier Colon THRICE on Maroon 5 tours (and for the whole South American Leg of Overexposed this summer) and signed up Tony Lucca to his label.
That is more than "coaching"
That is personally taking care of the people he thinks were more deserving in his teams so far.
By the way Adam will be back in California for The Voice way before November.
On October 16th the Blinds for Season 4 already start :

And on October 19th, even though the Blinds are on, Maroon 5 play a gig too.
Don't underestimate Adam.
He does a lot, for the show AND for his band AND for his show's protegées.
It's just that he is selective and not everyone appeals to him the same (and that is prerogative of him as a coach too, in fact).
Sorry for coming into this thread, but I felt like I had to.
