honestly, i agree that the sims 4 graphics > the sims 3 graphics. sims 3 was trying too hard to look realistic and all sims ended up looking really ugly imo

What they are saying is you won't need to have a $4000 PC to run the game, because they've programmed it better.
The minimum requirements are how much the game is to run on minimum settings.
These seem to be the standard, so if your PC can't run it, it should be able to at least on the lowest settings. If you have a high end PC, you should be able to run it better than what they show.

These are pretty average. If you bought a PC with these requirements today, you'd be wasting your money pretty much. So most people should be able to run this at medium settings hopefully.

More detail = Higher graphics card.

The Sims might be cartoony, but that doesn't mean the graphics are worse. It's an art style choice.
If they wanted to make a game that worked on low-end PC's as fans requested, Cartoonish was the only way to make it an improvement.

Otherwise we would have had something that looked 2009 still. This at least looks current.
Maxis had the task of improving graphics using the same requirements. This comes close, but still a bit higher.



This picture is also from the BETA. They have improved the grass and water since then.

& The Sims was always cartoony (Bustin Out anyone?)
The later games changed that, and this game is pretty much going back to the original roots.

Oh, now I get that part but you know, there are other countries were technology is expensive so it isn't that easy to go out and buy an SSD like that.
So I just hope this 2011 laptop can make it through.

My MacBook is from 2008 and has like 100GB of free space.

Honestly the Sims is the easiest game to play when it comes to graphics. I can play it on high graphics and never have issues.


If you're low on money build your own computer. It's cheaper and better. If not use Newegg to find cheap but high end computers.

So many games require a higher spec graphics card nowadays, but that just means they are badly optimised. The graphics of the sims 4 are wank and no amount of comparison shots on google can disprove that.

I just love how smooth and detailed everything is. As mentioned the game is intentionally cartoony, it doesn't mean the graphics are worse.

Agree with the above. The Sims 4 is superior. Comparisons screenshots really make the game shine and the cartoon graphics is definitely fitting. Surprised at how beautiful vegetation is in TS4, actually. Very detailed and brings a LOT of life to the world. (tho I'd like to mention that TS3 graphics > TS2)

Also, those damn system requirements are something typically for a casual game from the mid 2000's. If people struggle to run this game then they really need a PC upgrade.

Recently playing The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. It's a technical mess. Doesn't let me up the resolution from 800x600 despite editing ini files constantly (it works, but after exiting/reloading game it forces resolution again ). The Sims 2 is a great game, but it's limitations are so annoying. Despite having more fun with TS2 (due to being more into the franchise at that time and playing it during my childhood) I still prefer TS3 for gameplay and customization. Also, standard clothes are horrible and the men in TS2 all look the same without mods. Jeez.

Looking forward to TS4 now. If only they kept the open world, but I think I can deal.

The lighting in TS4 is so much better and is almost as good as TS2. Sorry but TS3 had one of the worst lighting and shadow systems of all time. Everything only looks good indoors.
