Ambient? Born to Die was trip hop-pop with lyrics about being a depressed rich girl and *that* image. The combo of that music with that image is what people copied, and no one was doing it before Lana.
I'd be more inclined to agree if the sound of the people who "copied" her's music also took on a cinematic tone.
Otherwise, it's misrepresentative to say that people copied her purely on the basis of incorporating trip hop and "sad" lyrics(?). Lol
