I guess the haters were waiting for this moment, which is kinda predictable since her last singles didn't do that well, I mean Roar sold that much first week because she came from such a successful era + the song was catchy and relatable. Rise is relatable but it isn't your typical Katy, and it comes after This Is How We Do which barely scratched Top 25.
Just my two cents, either way I have learn to never underestimate Katy. She might surprise us with her next single or with longevity with "Rise"
I'm sure she'll be just fine. With the right MV, KP4 lead will slay unless she goes the indie-alternative route. I hope that she won't try to be too artistique, I love her the way she is.
Rise is a bridge single. It's exactly what I wanted. That good song that gets her acclaim and prepares the GP for KP4. I called this MONTHS ago and y'all said it was a terrible idea. But it's working.
130k is not tragic as long as it pulls similar numbers week 2. With Spotify, Olympics promo and a possible second vid with Katy in it all to come, I KNOW they're banking on longevity with this one and not front loaded success. Don't panic kitties!

130k is simply not good even in this climate. It's had good promo like a real lead single would.
How is it not good when the biggest debut up until JT and his payola single was 172k? Drake is the biggest act this year and he is going #1 with less than 100k. Y'all are falling into the other fanbase trap of "500k to 130k omg embarassing!!11!!1"
130k is horrible, sorry. Rise is just not good for what it's worth as a KP single. Again, thank God it's for the Olympics. If it was a standalone single, it would bomb even harder.
