I know, and I too used to say that word and had to break myself of the habit. At the end of the day it's still a word associated with a specific group of people and here it's being used as synonymous with "stupid." I realize a lot of people aren't aware that they're being offensive when they say it, but if we never call people out on it, they'll never learn.
