Love Story, I Knew You Were Trouble and Shake It Off is her European trinity.

WANEGBT was kinda popular. Blank Space is slowly taking off but I do not see it matching SIO's popularity.

Why would you try to compare the sales of two songs released in 2008 and have had 6 years to accumulate the sales they have to two songs released within the last few months of 2014? Like...

Yass. I hope she makes an album with indie-pop influence, and I think releasing Wildest Dream and OOTW is kinda great to open her chance

Trio hop is also a genre she should explore imo. And I want traditional, organic pop sound like the mix of Speak Now, The Blessed Unrest, and Lights Out

also I want her getting back with guitar, making 2 folk rock tracks

and of course MM will be still there to produce the lead single, but I just want 3-4 tracks from him

By saying that it won't be her biggest hit until it passes it in sales, you ARE trying to compare them on an even playing field. You post on a music forum, but can't acknowledge that sales of songs today are not directly comparable to songs released 6 years ago?

Sales are one piece of the puzzle. I guess believe what you want to believe, but SIO is her biggest hit.

True I guess. There are loads of factors.
But although they didn't hit number one they spent a combined 99 weeks on the hot 100 and I find that really impressive. Also considering they weren't even pure pop and was the biggest country hit of all time until cruise.
But yeah we'll agree to disagree.

Shake It Off had a lot of hype and was released off the momentum of the Red era. Lord has already been establishing herself globally. Whereas, LS had nothing to capitalize on outside of North America. Shake It Off wouldn't have done as well if it was in LS's place. Plus, LS had longevity despite it not being performed numerous times unlike SIO.

Everything before that last sentence is conjecture and theoretical. You (nor I) have any idea how SIO would have done in Love Story's place, we only know how they actually performed...which was at the very least equal.

And that last sentence...the hell are you talking about? Love Story was performed MUCH more than SIO. It's understandable since, as you say, it was her international breakout hit, but she promoted that much more than she did SIO.

And it's longevity in the US on the Hot 100 was due to it's being released on Country first, and then to Pop when it was leaving the Country charts. Same with YBWM.

I think LS and SIO were both massive hits for Taylor. Arguing about the relative impacts just goes around in circles. They both played an important role in Taylor career growth.

Similarly, while some refer to Taylor's first album as the Mixtape, the reality is that it was vital in her career. She has had bigger hits since, but Tim McGraw and TOMG were vital in establishing a fanbase for Taylor. If her first couple of singles had flopped, if her first album had flopped, Taylor would have been dropped by Big Machine.

Despite being around for almost 9 years, Taylor is still growing her fanbase. Her tours are getting bigger. Her single sales are getting bigger internationally, and her album sales are growing everywhere. All this in a market where single and album sales are shrinking everywhere for most acts. Her success and career trajectory is staggering really when compared with other artists.
